With the exploration and innovation of Bebon people, DEN gradually formed four major advantageous products: steel plate, steel pipe, stainless steel, special steel, and established our own Machining processing center in order to meet customer's diverse requirements.

Difference between 304, 304L, 316 and 316L in the valves

316 stainless steel has almost become the standard material for the food and beverage industry. Due to the shortage of molybdenum in the world and the high nickel content in 316 stainless steel, the price of 316 stainless steel is higher than that of 304 stainless steel.

316L filler on 304L? WeldingWeb

Feb 23, 2013 · Hey guys I have a bunch of 316L that I had picked up when I was doing a project with a 316L plate. Is there any reason I couldn't use 316L for some 304 to mild? I do have 309L but only in 0.035 0.045" while I have 316L in 1/16" which would be more appropriate for this project. Thanks Jon

Stainless Steel Type 316/316L – Rolled Metal Products

Type 316/316L is a chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel containing molybdenum. The molybdenum addition enhances the corrosion resistance over that of 304/304L in halide environments as well as in reducing acids such as sulfuric and phosphoric acid.

AISI 316 vs 316L Stainless Steel, Difference of SS316

304, 304L, 316, and 316L stainless steel can be used in the food industry. For most food industries (such as vegetables, rice, noodles, dairy products, etc.), 304 is enough, and 316 is better than 304. However, sauces and pickle liquors are more corrosive (may contain large amounts of chloride) and can even pit 316.

Is Grade 317 Stainless Steel Worth the Cost Over 316 & 304?

So, if your processes involve the use of very diluted (less than 3 4%) hydrochloric acid, mild concentration (10%) sulfuric acid, or sodium hydroxide (aka caustic soda), then grade 317 stainless steel might be worth the extra cost over 316 or 304 SS.

Therefore, the SFE of 304 and 304L is not quite different and also the SFE of 316 and 316L is quite similar. Hence the tendency for stress corrosion cracking of the plain 304 or 316 stainless steels (in solution annealed condition) is not considered to be different from its low carbon varieties.

304, 304L versus 316 in corrosion resistance against

Nov 24, 2004 · 304, 304L versus 316 in corrosion resistance against Nitric Acid. We have a situation where several engineers are in disagreement regarding using 316 stainless steel in a nitric acid pumping scenario. A couple of guys say that under no conditions should 316 be used, only 304 or 304L.

However, 316 can be annealed to resist weld decay. 316L also is a great stainless steel for high temperature, high corrosion uses, which is why it's so popular for use in construction and marine projects.

Passivate 304 and 316 stainless steel or not?

We are manufacturing SS components from SS 304, 316 . We carry out passivation in a plastic container. Our passivation formulation consists of 20% Nitric acid and 5 % sodium dichromate in water. We immerse our components in this formulation for approx. 45 min, without any heating.

304 is the original "18 8" stainless. It is produced in greater quantity than any other austenitic stainless steel. 304 provides useful resistance to corrosion in many environments ranging from moderately reducing to moderately oxidizing.
